Beach House in Quoque, New York

Nestled on a large corner site bordering Penniman Creek is this new transitional 6,000 square foot shingle style home, designed with easy summer living in mind for a young family. The near 3-acre property includes a dock with Ocean access and ample space for outside summer entertaining, featuring a pool, pergola for dining, and over 1,250 square feet of terrace.

Taking advantage of its setting, the rectangular design is “front-loaded” (halls away from the water side) creating pleasant water views and easy access to the outside spaces. All of the exterior siding and trim work is bleached to create a more contemporary uniform look on the outside fenestrations. This weathered design motif is continued inside and combined with soft white painted wood creates contemporary approachable interiors.

Two volumes – the master suite on one end and the guest/children’s wing on the other – are connected by the central design focus, a vaulted ceiling living room and dining room with cerused oak trusses. This comfortable house with lively interiors is designed to sustain variable weather conditions and set to provide enjoyment for many seasons.
