A California House Tour That Makes You Dream of a Portugal Beach House

Hi Friends,

When my daughter was on the USTA pro circuit, we traveled to Portugal and stayed in different destinations on the Algarve Coast. My son also came with us and it is a trip I will cherish forever. The Algavre coast line is miles of burnt yellow cliffs and coves that over look golden sandy beaches and the colorful azure blue ocean. Throughout this region of Portugal white-washed villa’s and houses are perched along the winding landscape, the hills are a carpet of native almond and fig trees, and a beautiful display of wildflowers flow up the hills. Some of my favorite flowers in Portugal are the purple-blue Buglosses, Daisies, Foxgloves, Gladioulus and Wild Orchids.

This house reminds me of a house you would see in this region in Portugal, a house that is meant to be lived in. An amazing kitchen to spend time with family, I can imagine making bread in this kitchen and serving it to my guests with olive oil and fresh herbs from the garden. In the villages of Portugal the aroma of bread is everywhere. (Honestly the best bread I have ever had) Even know I am in love with this kitchen, my favorite space in this house is the courtyard. I love to entertain alfresco and this area is a dream. I hope I inspired you to book a trip to Portugal, it is a such a beautiful place, even the train ride to the airport in Lisbon was a treat-sitting on the train the scenery of the country side is so lovely, pastures of graceful olive tree, pretty vineyards and wildflowers :) The firm that designed this beautiful house is Eric Olsen Design, I am a huge fan of their work.
